 Commitment

ABSI remains steadfast in our focus on Fairness and continues to be recognized by various industry leading publications. Although we didn’t receive top honors, ABSi competed on a National Stage against multi-state Lumberyard conglomerates and were one of three finalists for the distinguished Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2015 presented by LBM Journal. As a byproduct the LBM editor reached out to us and will be featuring ABSi in their upcoming Business Profile article in the April issue. In addition, ABSi was quoted in the DWMM Magazine December/January issue in the article “Housing Revs Up for BIG growth in 2016” and we're very proud to be featured in DWMM Magazines February 2016 edition in their annual “TOP Door and Window Dealers” article. It is here where we are again ranked 3rd in the 11 Western States and moved up from 37th to 23rd nationally. Read more on our website

Industry Newsflash! Despite a few volatile months, the US Architecture Billings Index (ABI) concluded 2015 is in positive terrain. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) reported the December ABI score was 50.9, up from the mark of 49.3 in the previous month. This score reflects a slight increase in design services (any score above 50 indicates an increase in billings). The new projects inquiry index was 60.2, up from a reading of 58.6 the previous month.

So what’s new at ABSi? After intense business planning we are spreading our wings in terms of the California market coverage footprint. This is exactly what our strategic business plan calls for says ABSi President Chris Cole.

Drilling down further, we are pushing into the Wine Country with fenestration veteran Tim Clark who owned and operated a successful window & door business there for years. Tim will be working out of Sonoma initially with plans of relocating to a showroom soon. We have also opened Truckee-Tahoe-Sacramento with Sales Consultant Adam Baker stationed out of our Auburn office. At the same time were developing the Central Coast market from Santa Maria to Cambria. This market will be managed by an exceptional talent who joins the team in March and brings years of industry experience to ABSi. In an effort to enhance customer service level and sales reach out of our Los Gatos Showroom, we are adding local Sales Consultant Mike Hokanson who joins Team Los Gatos in February. Mike brings exceptional people skills and local presence to our already successful Los Gatos team.

 Innovation

Pacific Architectural Millwork launched a new brand, Reveal Windows & Doors, at the 2016 International Builders’ Show (IBS), January 19-21, 2016 in Las Vegas. The purpose of the new brand launch is to create a unique and clear identity for the expanding windows and doors segment of the Orange County-based business. Pacific Architectural Millwork is a leading millwork manufacturer with extensive experience fabricating and installing custom doors and windows for both commercial and residential projects. The Reveal Windows & Doors brand and its associated products will be synonymous with the innovation, quality and experience of the parent company.

“We’re releasing new products, entering new markets, developing new manufacturing processes and equipment, so it feels like an appropriate time to launch a brand that reflects that evolution,” said Ryan Higman, president of Pacific Architectural Millwork. He explained that while there will be synergy and crossover between the parent company and the brand, Reveal Windows & Doors allows for clarity and new, exciting opportunities specific to the growing product category.

Reveal Windows & Doors is represented by the message Expand Your View, which describes the goal of allowing customers to imagine all possibilities, achieve their unique vision for their home and experience indoor/outdoor living environments. Reveal takes pride in its ability to problem-solve and offer highly customizable products. As Higman maintains, “If it doesn’t exist, we’ll invent it.” Reveal Windows & Doors product offerings boast innovative, industry-unique patented designs. Examples include its Slide & Seal™ door and the Zero Window, the only zero sightline operable wood window on the market.

Reveal Windows & Doors was launched at IBS 2016, the largest annual light construction show in the world. The launch of Reveal Windows & Doors allows the company to provide something new in a space that brings together the industry’s most important global manufacturers and suppliers while showcasing the latest products, materials and technologies.

Despite being in an industry that can be resistant to new players, the team is confident that this is a positive and necessary change for the company. Higman’s vision and leadership are at the forefront of the brand launch, and the entire Pacific Architectural Millwork team played an integral role in the rebranding process. Vice President and General Manager of Pacific Architectural Millwork, Skip McDonald, explained “It’s important for everyone to share in the vision. If you get their buy-in, they become excited and take ownership of the brand.”

McDonald reiterated that it is important to keep in mind, “We’re not a new company getting its feet wet. We’ve been around for a long time and have extensive experience in the industry. Now is our opportunity to step up and refocus ourselves on becoming a major player in the window and door segment.”
